Aims, Topics, Contacts
The Committee was founded in 1973 as part of the Swiss solidarity movement against colonialism, racism and exploitation. To this day it focuses on the ‘other’ Africa, the rise and potential of the continent.
We engage with the current political, economic, social and cultural developments in Africa and discusses the next level of the North-South relations, and the exercise of state authority.
We live solidarity by stimulating debate, creating awareness on issues and addressing the concerns of African partners. We subscribe to the importance of cultural exchange and highlighting the richness of African culture.
We engage with the public via the quarterly Afrika-Bulletin and via public events and have been supporting grassroots projects in selected regions of Africa.
The work of the Africa-Committee is carried out by a limited number of hands. In order to do so we rely on the support of numerous sympathizers. The main form of support is membership in the Committee. The membership fee of CHF 60 / EUR 60 includes the subscription of the quarterly Afrika-Bulletin.
Our website is not fully translated yet. Many of our events are held in English language. Please use the German website for information on events and publications and feel free to contact us for details and clarifications.
